I want to start off by saying that I was instantly drawn to the title of your blog “A Picasso Cake.” The extended metaphor of a “cake” was very creative because it made your blog post a lot more interesting to read! I really liked how you were able to compare the fragmented elements of Picasso’s painting to the “gooey, sometimes grainy, sloppy puddle” of an uncooked cake! This was my favourite part of your blog because it perfectly captured the way I felt when I first looked at Picasso’s painting in our lecture. I also really liked how you described the way the “distorted shapes, textures and random images” of this painting alludes to a time of great change and experimentation in the 20th century.
In particular, your description of the figured women painted with “faded black ink” also allowed me to reflect on the disorder of society and human destruction in the 20th century. Perhaps you could have put a URL video link at the end of your blog, to a short biography of Picasso to help your readers get an even better understanding of society in this era. Overall, your writing is extremely interesting to read. You have an incredible talent for creative writing. Keep up the good work, you’re doing amazing. I’m really looking forward to reading more of your blog posts!
